Mowing Tips
You can make mowing easier while keeping your lawn healthy all season long.
- Mow High
- Always make sure you mow at the proper height of, at least, 3” to 3.5”. Longer grass blades will prevent sunlight from reaching the soil below keeping the lawn cooler while preventing weed seeds from germinating. The result will be a greener, healthier lawn that requires less water and has fewer weeds.
- Do not scalp the lawn

Mow your lawn at least once per week and do not remove more than 1/3 of the total length of the grass blade at a time. Scalping removes most of the green, food-producing part of the grass blades. The plants are set back many weeks trying to recover.- Keep blades sharp

You should sharpen your mower blades at least 2 – 3 times per season. Dull mower blades can cause a lawn to have a brown, hazy appearance and allow disease pathogens to attack your lawn.- Avoid mowing wet grass
- You get a better, more even cut when the grass is dry.
- Alternate mowing pattern
- Mowing in the same direction can cause the grass to bend in the direction you mow. Alternating direction corrects this problem.
