Snail and Slug Control
Slugs and snails can be a nuisance around your landscape, especially your hostas and some flowers. Newly planted and established landscapes can become a victim at any time.
Their damage is easily identifiable because they eat from the inside out, instead of feeding on the edges of the plant like most insects. Since they are nocturnal, they emerge in the evening to feed, so finding them during the day can be difficult. Aside from the holes in the foliage, you may be able to see the dried slime trails snails leave behind next morning.
Even though snails are slow, they can travel between 30-50 feet to find a food source. Once they find enough to eat, they do not travel far for a hiding place during the day. They prefer to hide in cool wet areas such as under rocks, flower pots, timber, mulch, patios and squeeze between where the concrete meets the grass.
In most parts of the United States, snails have two breeding seasons – spring and fall. Since snails are hermaphrodites, they can breed with themselves and leave behind an impressive nest. Although there is bait available at your local hardware store, applying the application can be a long and tedious weekend activity.
Natural Way offers a Slug and Snail Program that will control the population and damage caused by these insects. It contains three applications – Spring, Summer and Fall. Natural Way guarantees this service so if any activity occurs between your scheduled applications, we will return to your property and reapply the treatment at no charge to you.
